I am new to the Mac world and bought my first product in the form of a new Mac Studio,
I just ordered your Super Thunderbolt 3 Dock with PCIe 3.0 m.2 slot and I THINK SATA III 6GB/s SSD slot
I am still trying to find the fastest 4TB drive options for my wildlife photography/video and sublimation craft designs.
Are there capacity limitations on the ports or can I get 4TB in both the SSD and the m.2? I do have a couple 2TB Samsung m.2’s available, but not sure which SSD to get.
I am researching the issues with drive speeds being slower on Apple M1 chips than they are suppose to be and hoping it is correctable with a future firmware update or something.
I was wondering if there are any plans in the near future to make a new version upgrading to Thunderbolt 4 with PCIe4 interface speeds?
I do not understand which of these pads are used where. Can you supply a photo or a video showing how each is used? The grey one looks almost as long as my m.2 drive but seems too thick. Where is the best, correct placement of these pads?
Thank you, I sent 2 emails as I forgot to put my shipping address the first time, I also added a photo of a possible solution.
We've tested SSD enclosure(s) up to 4TB SSDs and shown no compatibility problem(s). However, now we have to take the M1 Write Speed Limitation issue into consideration. Then so far the ones that have been tested and proven were all maximum of 2TB capacity max (we do recommend Samsung's 970 PRO or Samsung's 980 PRO).
SATA SSD drive wise, you may just get any 2.5 inches SATA SSD drive. It should work just fine.
As for any future new upgraded version that's with PCIe4 interface, yes, I am sure there will be. Just that it's not in the pipeline as yet. It will still take some time. The ones with PCIe3 interface you're getting now would still be the quickest one for the time being.
