Hello,
I have four usb c ports on my 2019 macbook pro 15" and was using them all: charger, two video cameras, and one usb audio interface. For this reason i selected the TREBLEET Slim Thunderbolt 4 Hub.
Initially, i plugged the cameras and usb audio interface into the c ports and connected the included thunderbolt cable to my mac and we pleased. The mac charged and also seemed to connect the externals. Then my journey began.
One of the cameras though connected sent through no signal. I have purchased two thunderbolt cables as i was just using basic c cables and maybe that's the problem. But, for now, i have the audio interface connected to the hub and the cameras now going directly to the mac.
My next problem occurs because of some kind of intermittent disconnection. I hear the "ding" of charger cable connected (while recording), and when i look at the mac, i see the audio interface has disconnected and reconnected. This stops the recording session as i now have to open my DAW and reselect the audio interface. Upon every disconnect/reconnect (which is happening intermittently and automatically reconnecting without any action on my behalf), the DAW loses its interface selection, and i have to start over.
I read on Amazon someone saying the included thunderbolt cable they got wasn't good or was 4 and not 3, I don't know, but they returned it. I actually was owed $100 by my company and they purchased this for me so return isn't really an option here.
What is your thought on all this - is the charging hitting 100% and then disconnecting the cable connection which disconnects the hub attached audio interface? Also, should i expect the hub to transfer data fast enough via the included thunderbolt cable such that i can run two camera sn one audio interface to the mac?
Also, may I know if you do use another port for charging (usual power adapter), will the same 'ding ding' disconnections happen again? I will submit the case to our tech team once I heard back from your end and they'll be back after Chinese New Year Holidays, and be resumed working on the 07FEB2025. Hope to hear from you soon, Jay.
Thanks for the video shared, Jay. I did send you an email to check if you're on Whatsapp, for a quick call to gather more information before I pass the case to our Tech Team. Also, can you please send us the pic or link to the 4.5m (15ft) cables that you're using there?
Thanks, I have shared this video with you of the trebleet disconnecting with several "ding" sounds as i suppose it registers power not charging then charging then again not charging i guess. I shared the video directly from Google Drive to your gmail listed below. Can you let me know if you able to view it, please?
Again, it's important to note that i was able to duplicate this with my volt audio interface and cameras connected directly to the mac and Trebleet doing nothing but charging the computer.
Here's another question, as i believe this issue is related to charging...is there a way to disable charging on the Trebleet? I tried disconnecting the power adapter, but then the usb cables' data doesn't seem to throughput to the mac...Thanks.
Happy New Year.
A quick question, Jay. May I know if you've got 2 more shorter length cables that can be used to connect the two cameras to test if the constant power disconnections / connections would still happen?
Audio interface (connected to Trebleet Hub with included cable)
Universal Audio Volt 476P
Cameras:
OBSBOT Tiny 2 Webcam 4K Voice Control PTZ, AI Tracking Multi-Mode & Auto Focus, Web Camera with 1/1.5" Sensor, Gesture Control, 60 FPS
OBSBOT Tiny 1080P PTZ Webcam with AI Tracking
Cameras connected to Trebleet Hub with two of these
240W Thunderbolt 4 Cable 15 ft (Support 5K / 4K@60Hz 20Gbps with PD Fast Charging)
Please note that during yesterday's recording session the "ding" of power connected went into a loop and was firing off every 5 seconds or so. I unplugged all three (everything) on the Trebleet Hub but the power ding continued to go off over and over. I finally had to uplug the Trebleet Hub completely to make it stop.
Thank you for the message, Jay. May I get more context from your end? From what we understand is that:- Product involved: TREBLEET Slim Thunderbolt 4 Hub Your computer is: 2019 macbook pro 15" May I know:- What are the brands / models of the video cameras as well as the sound interface? Hope to hear from you soon and let us check with our tech team after. Thanks!
