Hello Trebleet, thank you for your all gorgeous products!
(I wrote e-mail to you but i found this forum and writing now that you're probably busy)
now I've been using Corsair MP400 8TB, and recemntly moved to mac world, m1 ultra.
I bought some USB 4.0 enclosures those I can buy easily in here(South Korea), but I falied to settle on my MP400 8TB, so I searched about it, happy to know your encloures.
Could you recommend your sutff for the purpose - MP400 8TB in mac system? (If single nvme enclosure has a little bit risk about it other one is ok)
I came to know that you released the new elclosure recently, 2 in 1, - I'll use only MP400 8TB, but if 2 in 1 stuff offers better cooling, I'll pick that up,
will that be okay for MP400 8TB?
Hello there,
thank you for contacting us! =) From what we've learned from most of our customers, we normally suggest our customers getting Samsung 970 PRO / Samsung 980 PRO or Corsair MP400 series SSDs. They're tested and proven to be working well with M1 chip computers and face no "Limited Write Speed" issue. However, lately we've got one particular customer who have updated that his MP400 was facing a lowered-write-speed issue, when it's being used with an M1 computer. What we're trying to tell you here is that, there's a slight chance here that you might be facing the same issue there too, before you decide if to get which product from us here. =) For a single SSD enclosure, you can either go for the below two:- Thunderbolt 3 only enclosure - https://www.trebleet.com/product-page/trebleet-thunderbolt-3-to-nvme-m-2-2280-hard-drive-case-ssd-enclosure 2in1 SSD Enclosure (with both USB & Thunderbolt 3 modes) - https://www.trebleet.com/product-page/2-in-1-thunderbolt-3-usb3-2-ssd-enclosure Or alternatively you may also consider our newly launched MacMini Dock Station too, each comes with a PCIe 3.0 X4 SSD expansion slot & all other ports to further enhance the practicality of your Mac unit:- https://www.trebleet.com/product-page/mac-mini-thunderbolt-3-dock-with-nvme-sata-slot-cfexpress-card-slot-silver https://www.trebleet.com/product-page/mac-mini-thunderbolt-3-dock-with-nvme-sata-slot-cfexpress-card-slot-gray
We've had users used 8TB SSD with our enclosure(s) before, there's no issue. However, we'd like to point out that SSDs are built and designed in such a way to have really high read / write performance. But the draw-back is that it generates quite a significant amount of heat as it is in operation. And of course, they're also built to withstand that kind of temperature. However, if you're transferring / writing a huge sum of files at the same time, the speed might sometimes go slower (as there's a safety mechanism that triggers Thermal Throttling to protect the SSD itself from overheating). So, rule of thumb, it is ok to work for long hours with it, but try not to bombard it with a huge size of files at a time. Split them in smaller chunks, it'd save you loads of troubles. =) Hope the above would give you an idea on which item to go for.
